Development blog

4 April 2012

Greetings from Trawler development team!

We have been cooking up a few new developments, the biggest of which is our Spring Recruitment Drive. We are currently seeking interested candidates to join an expanded Canadian team to pump up the volume of #trawl-ed opinion pieces in Canada. If you think you or someone you know would be the perfect Canadian Trawler, take a look at our Call for Contributors document on our Careers page.

We’ve also been putting together a few new tools for Trawler. Our new Media Database tool has finally launched and is looking good. We hope, in time, to be able to use the Database to effectively map the media landscape in each of the G-20 countries (stay tuned to the Development blog for more).

We’ve also put the finishing touches (for now) on our rating tool. If you’re anything like us, you’ll get a kick out of exercising your expertise on quality journalism. We’ve rigged it so that once you’ve rated an article, you can share your rating on Facebook – who knows, maybe your great aunt Denise will read the article too and give you a piece of her mind (a great holiday conversation starter, among other things).

That’s all for now. We look forward to having an energetic and robust Canadian team of trawlers for you by summer. Meantime, happy rating! And, as always, we welcome your feedback either here on the Blog, or at rebecca.wenstrom@thetrawler.org.
